Good morning!

We had a lazy morning at home exploring the backyard and looking for creatures. We were happy to find a bunch of tiny snails along the border of the pool. The boys remain stoked about the treehouse and love to climb up and yell down about how great the view is from “their treehouse”. Since this was our first full day in Cape Town, we decided to hold off on home school until tomorrow. The boys were thrilled.

Surprise treehouse— this was built after we booked the AirBnB!

Beautiful view of Table Mountain from the front walk

We went to Blue Cafe for breakfast. Lenny loved his hard boiled eggs and made a toast and cheese sandwich. Oliver demolished coconut pancakes.  Then we went grocery shopping at Woolworths (Woolies!) to get basic provisions for the house since we will be here for 3 weeks.

Toss up over which Len loved more— the treehouse or the kid sized shopping carts

It was a beautiful day (mid 80s!) so we decided to go to the beach.  We met a woman at Blue Cafe who recommended Clifton beach over Camps Bay as it should be less crowded.  The drive to the beach was just 8 minutes from our house.  We accessed the beach by walking down ~150 steps but the beach was beautiful.  We saw loads of purple-ish jellyfish washed up on the beach as well as mussels and sand dollars on all of the rocks. To our surprise, the water was freezing at just ~55 degrees Fahrenheit.

Clifton Beach #3— apparently known for its skimpy swimwear! Lots of thongs, the boys had questions

We spent the late afternoon at the house pool and playing soccer in the backyard. We made lemonade from the lemons we picked and grilled for dinner.

“World cup soccer” as Ollie calls it
